I am delighted to join the board of trustees for the Fertility Network UK. Like so many, I have been affected and impacted by infertility. Throughout our fertility journey, the one thing that struck us was how isolating the experience can be and how we weren’t prepared for what was to come due to lack of support and information. On sharing our story, a number of our friends, colleagues and even family came forward to talk about their secret struggles with fertility.

Near the end of our IVF treatment we found out about the fantastic support and information that is offered by the Fertility Network UK, a charity that supports people wanting to create their own family, be it via either IVF or adoption, or deciding to lead a child-free life.  I hope that by becoming a trustee I will be able to support the work of the charity in raising awareness of infertility, supporting those struggling to conceive and those living with infertility and in raising vital funds to enable the Fertility Network UK to provide this much needed service.

In my professional life I have over 8 years’ experience gained in local and national charities and I am also a trustee of my own charity.  I hope to bring to the board my experience of raising funds, motivating donors and volunteers, as well as the governance side around GDPR and the legalities of fundraising. And personally I bring the empathy to what it feels like to have to undergo fertility treatment, and to be on that journey of #MoretoLife
