Coping at Christmas When You’re Struggling to Conceive
By Sophie Sulehria, Peanut
‘Tis the season to be jolly, they say. But jolly is the last thing anyone wants to be at Christmas when you’re struggling to have a baby. I know, I’ve been there, and I can safely say that it’s one of the year’s most painful triggers for anyone wishing for their own family (alongside Mother’s Day, Eid, Thanksgiving, and any other significant holiday).
It’s Not Just Good To Talk, It’s Essential
Sophie Sulehria, Peanut
“I have always said it; my struggle with fertility is a mental health condition far more than a physical one. Ok, so the injections and scans and blood tests and pain and all the rest of the stuff that comes with treatment is awful, of course it is… but it’s bearable, right? What’s not so bearable is the circular thinking, the bad dreams, the feeling of isolation, the anxiety, depression, and the myriad of other feelings that come with it. Sadly this part is harder to bear.”
