“As the mother of the second ever IVF baby, I have had the extraordinary privilege of witnessing the incredible journey of assisted conception from its very earliest days.
What was once experimental and uncertain has now given hope and joy to millions of families across the world.
I still remember the wonder, the anxiety and the overwhelming gratitude I felt when my son, Alastair, was born – a moment that felt not only deeply personal but also part of something much bigger. Along with other participants, we were among the very first to walk that path and I have never forgotten the courage, the science and the compassion that made it possible.
To be invited to serve as a Patron of Fertility Network UK is a true honour. This organisation does vital work – offering support, advocacy and a sense of community to those navigating the often challenging road of fertility treatment. I know how isolating that journey can feel and how powerful it is to have someone to turn to who understands.
In accepting this role, I hope to continue raising awareness, reducing stigmas and celebrating the progress we have made – while always recognising how far there still is to go. My family’s story began with the miracle of IVF and I want to stand with all those still hopng, trying or healing.
It is a privilege to support a network that empowers people at every step of their fertility journey and I look forward to championing its work with pride and gratitude.”
