HIMfertility Group with the Donor Conception Network

15 Feb 2023

Fertility Network is pleased to bring you our next HIMfertility group

Wednesday 15th February 2023, at 8.00pm

Join us this month along with our guests from the charity, Donor Conception Network as we explore the complexities of donor fertility treatment.
If you are contemplating donor conception or are having treatment, whether in the UK or abroad (whatever kind of donor you are using) the Donor Conception Network are there to offer support and information. During this meeting we’ll get to find out more about what they do and some of the issues couples might face.

Nina Barnsley, Director of Donor Conception Network:

Nina is the director of the DC Network, a support organisation for people considering donor conception and parents who have donor conceived children. The charity was founded nearly 30 years ago and Nina has been leading the team at DCN for the last 8 years. She has a deep understanding of the particular issues that face families created through donor conception and regularly speaks and writes on the subject. Through peer support, the charity aims to break the isolation many people feel when navigating their complex and, often emotional, fertility journey. Nina and the DCN team, along with dedicated volunteers, offer personal, tailored support and connections both in-person and online. The charity also publishes books and runs workshops and aims to be a much-needed voice for donor conception families more widely.

Chris Green, Volunteer:

I suffered with a number of health issues through my twenties and early thirties that, eventually, led to a diagnosis of azoospermia. Through the support of the DCN, as well as our fertility clinic, my wife and I have a wonderful 2 year old boy who was conceived via sperm donation. I now volunteer for the DCN, organising one of their Men’s Only Catchup nights in South London every few months.

This online meeting will be via Zoom, and men are more than welcome to join with the camera on or off.

Having the male fertility support group available to me has been invaluable – whether you join just to listen, or to share your story and experiences. It’s a great place to get answers, feel that you are not alone in your fertility journey, and it always provides a positive boost after each session. It’s become an essential part of my monthly routine!
