Black Women’s Fertility Group Meeting with Guest Speakers

18 Dec 2024

Sheyi Martins-Allen and Whitney Blacksmith join as Guest Speakers

Wednesday 18th December at 6.30pm

In December, Sheyi Martins-Allen and Whitney Blacksmith will share their fertility journeys and provide advice and support to the group.

Sheyi Martins-Allen is a singer who runs a tutoring business with her husband in Acton, West London. Sheyi is a mum to two beautiful children – six-year-old Isabella, who was conceived quite easily, and eight-month-old Noah, whose arrival came after a long and challenging journey with secondary infertility.

Sheyi underwent three hysteroscopies, a fallopian tube recanalisation, an egg collection, and three failed IVF transfers. Along the way, was diagnosed with adenomyosis, one blocked fallopian tube, and Asherman’s syndrome. Amazingly, Noah was conceived naturally just after the  third IVF transfer failed.

Sheyi is a Christian, her faith was both her anchor and a challenge during this time.

Sheyi is passionate about sharing her story and using what she’s learned to support and encourage others on this path.

Whitney Blacksmith is a highly trained Specialist Psychotherapist and founder of Therapy For My Sistahs, a practice dedicated to providing culturally responsive and affirming therapy for Black and Mixed-Heritage Women. Passionate about supporting women’s psychological and emotional well-being, Whitney specializes in offering care before, during, and after IVF and other fertility treatments. Drawing from her own lived experience of navigating a fertility journey, Whitney brings empathy and insight to her work, fostering a safe space for healing and empowerment.
