Swindon CCG slashes NHS IVF

Swindon CCG has cut the number of NHS IVF cycles it offers from 3 to 1 partial cycle, effective from 1 April 2017

Swindon CCG has cut the number of NHS IVF cycles it offers from 3 to 1 partial cycle, effective from 1 April 2017. Eligible women under 40 can now only access either 3 intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles or 1 partial IVF/ICSI cycle; the IVF/ICSI consists of a maximum of 3 embryo transfers: 1 embryo transfer from the first fresh cycle and up to a maximum of 2 frozen cycles. (The accepted definition of 1 full IVF/ICSI cycle is 1 fresh cycle plus all embryo transfers resulting from this cycle; NICE recommends that all eligible women under 30 should have access to 3 full NHS-IVF/ICSI cycles).

Swindon CCG did not consult with the public regarding this decision; an engagement exercise was held at the start of the year.

If you are affected by this decision, please contact Catherine Hill at media@fertilitynetworkuk.org
