Good news: Study shows no concerning effects of fertility treatment on children’s development
Good news: a new, large study shows there are no concerning effects of fertility treatment on children’s development. The global research, which tracked 158,000 IVF-conceived children from birth to adulthood, found small differences in the growth, weight, and body fat of IVF children reduced with age.
Commenting on the study, Kate Brian, Fertility Network operations manager, said: ‘These results will be a great relief for the many families in the UK and worldwide who have welcomed children via fertility treatment. Fertility Network is pleased to see that this large study shows there were no differences between IVF children or children conceived naturally that were likely to have any health implications, and it is reassuring that any early differences in growth, weight, and body fat were small and reduced with older age.’
