Black Women’s Fertility Group Meeting

24 Apr 2024

In April, Grace Torgbor and Kelly Powell-Williams will both share their fertility journeys.

Grace Torgbor
As a single IVF patient, Grace’s path has been challenging, with highs and lows. Grace will talk about her NHS-funded fertility treatment, the waiting list for Black egg donors in the UK, exploring options in North Cyprus, where a wealth of Black donors are available, and her determination to become a parent.

Grace is currently looking into Adoption and believes it offers a different kind of fulfilment.

Kelly Powell-Williams
Kelly Powell-Williams works in the NHS as a Urology Oncology Nurse Specialist. Kelly helped to encourage fertility awareness across her local NHS Trust. As a result of expressing concerns for better support as an NHS employee, there are now accessible links to support networks such as Fertility Network UK and Miscarriage Association on the local NHS Trust Intranet.

Kelly is a member of the Essential Baby Company’s director member’s board. Kelly has contributed to bringing attention to issues which heavily affect marginalised communities, including women’s health, Baby Loss, Diabetes, high blood pressure and more.

Kelly and her husband have undergone three private rounds of IVF. The last round of IVF resulted in a successful delivery of a baby girl born in August 2023.

Kelly will share more about navigating her fertility journey at the support meeting.
