Fertility Network UK is the nation’s leading patient-focused fertility charity. We are a small independent charity working hard to help the 3.5 million people affected by the devastation and pain fertility issues create. Our support includes practical emotional support for people who are considering their future fertility; trying to become parents; facing the challenges of childlessness; are successful after fertility problems; and those needing help to access NHS-funded fertility treatment.
As the patient voice in the campaign for equitable access to NHS fertility treatment in the UK we co-chair campaign group Fertility Fairness, and ensure that the issues which matter to patients are heard by politicians, policy-makers and health commissioners. We work with the media to raise public awareness of all aspects of fertility issues, to highlight the need for equitable access to NHS fertility services and to promote the need for fertility education in order to protect and maintain future fertility. Our education project raises awareness of the importance of fertility education in protecting and maintaining future fertility and highlights some practical steps young people can take to help protect their future fertility.
About The Role
The Community Events Fundraising Co-ordinator is a key voluntary role for Fertility Network UK who support volunteers across the UK to organise challenge events, and take part in marathons, runs, hikes, trails, and exciting adventures, whilst raising important funds for the charity. The right volunteer will be a strong communicator who can help develop compelling narrative to help volunteers write their Justgiving Pages, as well as be able to support and guide volunteers throughout their challenge how to maximise their income through email and telephone advice, and make sure that the fundraisers are thanked and celebrated on social media. The volunteer will also be responsible for developing strategies to recruit new challenge event participants, working closely with our digital media officer.
The role will work either from home or the office in Greenwich, and working alongside the Director of Fundraising, support record keeping for challenge events and monitor performance of fundraisers. You will be an energetic, friendly and persuasive personality that is results driven and have a good eye for detail, and be willing to work with beneficiaries sensitively, most of whom are on their trying to conceive journey, may have recently had assisted conception, or may be in our More to Life community who are struggling with adjusting to a life without children, and sometimes their participation in an event might be the first steps they take towards doing something positive after a long time suffering from mental health issues. Therefore sensitivity is important in the volunteer role holder, as well as a good understanding of how to work promoting equal opportunities. Our community includes people who are LGBT, from all different nationalities, ages, situations, and different relationship statuses, therefore we are looking for someone that can be sensitive to the needs of our entire community and be non-judgemental and able to exercise anti-discriminatory practice.
