Heather’s 5k Run

9 Jul 2017

I have never been much of a runner but recently started the couch to 5K running programme. I have found it difficult, but I am currently completing week 8 of 9 and have really enjoyed the challenge! As a result, I will be running my first 5K race on the 9th of July. I chose to fundraise for Fertility Network UK as I am a volunteer student ambassador for the charity. This means that I get to see first-hand the amazing support and advice this small charity provides to anyone struggling with fertility issues.

As an aspiring embryologist, this issue is very close to my heart. As it will be a while before I am qualified, (I am currently completing the 2nd year of BSc Biological Sciences at the University of Liverpool) I thought this would be a nice way to give my support to those struggling with fertility. I have personally seen the whole process whilst on a work placement last summer in a fertility clinic, and realise the importance of impartial advice and support in what can be an upsetting and difficult journey.
