How Fertility Network supports individuals

‘For those considering their future fertility’

We provide information for anyone thinking about lifestyle factors which may impact on their chances of conceiving.

The issue of fertility health is sadly neglected in the UK – despite the fact that, in general, people say that having children is the most important decision of their lives..

The latest UK data indicates that more women are having children over the age of 35 than under the age of 25. Now more than 50% of babies born in the UK are to women over 30. Fertility declines progressively through life and many women are choosing to delay trying for a family until their mid- to late thirties, when fertility is more rapidly declining.

Improving young people’s knowledge of fertility and reproductive health is essential. Fertility education will help to ensure that they are better informed on all aspects of fertility issues and ultimately help to reduce instances of infertility in the future.

Fertility Network UK is the nation’s leading patient-focused fertility charity.  We are here to provide free and impartial help, support, advice and understanding for anyone affected by fertility issues.

We understand the widespread impact of infertility. Individuals can be affected physically, emotionally, socially and financially. Family, friends, relationships and work can all suffer. Feelings of depression, sadness, frustration, anger, helplessness and isolation are all common. That is why we are here on a practical and emotional level. To support and advise you, whatever your experience of fertility issues.

Our Info Line can help with advice and information, including advice on NHS funding issues. Our Support Line offers free emotional support and help with understanding medical issues surrounding fertility treatment.

Our events section lists events taking place across the country. Our news page keeps you up-to-date with the latest fertility news and research.

If you need peer support, our online and face to face support groups offer the chance to speak to others in a similar situation.

‘For those facing the challenges of childlessness’

If you are childless by circumstance, we can help. Involuntary childlessness is challenging but it is still possible to have a fulfilling life.

You may have tried fertility treatment with no success, or considered other family building options  but decided that wasn’t right for you, you may have a partner who doesn’t want to have children, or perhaps you just didn’t find the right person to have a baby with.

Whatever your circumstances, we offer support, advice and coping strategies on ways to begin to move forwards and find a way to appreciate and enjoy your life without children.

Our support is not just for women. Men matter here too, individually or as part of a couple.

‘For those successful after fertility issues’

If you have been successful in conceiving after fertility issues, or have used other family building options to complete your family, we are here to support you.

If you have been through the rollercoaster of fertility treatment and are now pregnant, you may feel worried and anxious about the pregnancy. If you are in the early days of parenting, particularly if you have taken a long time to have your family, you may feel overwhelmed by the desire to be a ‘perfect’ parent.  You may have used donor treatment to conceive, or had your family through adoption or surrogacy. All these situations can bring their own worries and anxieties, particularly in the early days.

We have included information about pregnancy after fertility treatment, as well as information on multiple births. We recognise that it can be difficult to explain assisted conception to children, particularly if donor sperm or embyos have been used. We hope the information here as well as external links we have included will be helpful to you.

If you can’t find the information you are looking for, or would like to suggest we include information on a specific issue, please contact us.

Whatever your circumstances, we offer information, support, advice and coping strategies on ways to help you appreciate and enjoy your life now that you are finally a family.

This is all made possible through Fundraising and Donations
