Deciding whether to tell your employer you are having fertility treatment is difficult but asking for time off for fertility treatment can feel totally impossible.
Although there is no statutory right to time off, there are ways you can approach your employer. Many employers do now have policies to support staff who need to take time off, and others have implemented policies after they have been approached by an employee.
Trade Unions are another way to approach employers. Fertility Network Scotland has worked successfully with the public service union UNISON to develop and implement a policy to ensure that those requiring investigations and treatment for infertility are supported.
